How do I download the app?
To download the Upcooter app, simply click here and you’ll automatically be redirected to the appropriate download page for your mobile device. You can also search “Upscooter” in both the App and Google Play stores.
How do I find an Upscooter near me?
To find an Upscooter near you, simply open the Upscooter app. You’ll automatically be taken to the map screen, showing all available scooters in your area. If you don’t see any vehicle icons displayed on the map, zoom out to search a wider area.
How do I unlock an Upscooter?
To unlock a Upscooter, simply open the Upscooter app and tap on the “Ride” button at the bottom of the screen. From here, either scan the QR code using your phone’s camera.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
You should wear a cycle helmet when using an e-scooter. Helmets are recommended but are not a legal requirement.
Where can I ride an Upscooter?
You may use an Upscooter on the road (except motorways) and in cycle lanes.You must not use an e-scooter on the pavement.
Do I need insurance to ride?
E-scooters must have motor insurance, but you do not need to arrange this as this will be provided by Upscooter
Do I need a driving license to ride?
You must have the category Q entitlement on your driving licence to use an e-scooter. A full or provisional UK licence for categories AM, A or B includes entitlement for category Q. If you have one of these licences, you can use an e-scooter.
If you have a provisional licence, you do not need to show L plates when using an e-scooter.
If you have an overseas driving licence, you can use an e-scooter if you:
- have a valid full licence from an EU or European Economic Area (EEA) country (so long as this does not prohibit you from driving low-speed mopeds and motorcycles)
- have a valid full licence from another country that entitles you to drive a small vehicle (for example, cars, mopeds or motorcycles) and you entered the UK within the last 12 months
